Introducing Sarah Weaver
Hi, I’m Sarah Weaver.
I am the founder of Entourage Functional Medicine.
I am entrepreneur and nurse who has worked across the entire continuum of care. Now, as a practitioner, my unique experience drives my advocacy for my clients.
I am motivated by a passion for promoting peaceful communication and the highest level of wellbeing among my clients and team.
_____
I started my career as an assistant team leader for AmeriCorps NCCC in Denver.
Then, in 1999, I opened Full Circle Doula Care in Seattle, Washington, and, later Fort Wayne. I was the owner and birth and postpartum doula, focusing on advocacy and education as well as direct care for newborns and families.
Then, in 2003, I founded the Blue Mountain Project, which partners with rural farming communities in Jamaica’s Blue Mountains to improve the health, education and economy of their rural third world population.
I have been serving my community as a nurse since 2005, working in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings including cardiac telemetry, med-surg and family practice nursing.
In 2013, I began to build a comprehensive inpatient holistic nursing program and still design and coordinate programming for healthcare professionals at Parkview Health. This program has been recognized nationally.
In 2015, after graduating from University of Saint Francis’ Family Nurse Practitioner program I began to work in a large non-profit integrative health clinic, started my post graduate training and certification through the Institute for Functional Medicine and Daniel Amen’s Brain Health Coaching program.
It has been my honor to help hundreds of clients reach their health goals and I can’t wait for the opportunity to partner with you!

Why I Recommend the Color Theory Journal
As a Functional Medicine Nurse Practitioner and Certified Holistic Nurse, I've spent my career building nationally recognized holistic nursing programs and helping hundreds of clients find the root causes of their health challenges. Having walked my own healing journey from Hashimoto's diagnosis at 22 to overcoming chronic fatigue in my 30s, I understand both the clinical and personal sides of health recovery. Through my practice at Entourage Health and as creator of the Holistic Nursing Certification Prep Course, I've learned that the clients who achieve true vitality are those who develop deep self-awareness about their patterns, triggers, and responses.
My Professional Background
Why This Journal Works: The Science
The research supporting this journal's approach is compelling:
Handwriting Benefits: Recent neuroscience research using high-density EEG shows that handwriting creates "far more elaborate" brain connectivity patterns than typing, with theta/alpha coherence patterns that enhance memory formation and emotional processing. Studies demonstrate that handwriting primes the brain for learning by synchronizing brain waves in ranges crucial for encoding new information.
Journaling Efficacy: Meta-analyses of 20+ peer-reviewed studies show 68% effectiveness for journaling interventions in mental health, with effect sizes comparable to established medical treatments. Research consistently links emotional expression through writing with better psychological health, improved moods, and reduced anxiety.
Mood Tracking for Bipolar Disorder: A 5-year longitudinal study found that self-monitoring daily mood charts significantly reduced recurrence in bipolar patients. Research shows mood tracking helps build self-awareness, identify early warning signs, and support long-term stability.
Self-Awareness and Mental Health: Studies demonstrate that self-awareness interventions significantly impact mental health outcomes, with benefits for psychological well-being, emotional regulation, and interpersonal functioning.
Clinical Applications
In my functional medicine practice, this journal serves as a powerful clinical tool:
Appointment Preparation: Patients arrive with data-driven insights, not just subjective feelings
Medication Monitoring: Clear tracking during adjustments and treatment changes
Pattern Recognition: Identifying connections between symptoms, sleep, stress, and lifestyle factors
Crisis Prevention: Early warning system for mood episodes or symptom escalation
Treatment Integration: Bridges gaps between professional appointments with structured self-care

My Professional Recommendation
After reviewing the extensive research foundation and witnessing how self-awareness transforms health outcomes in my practice, I wholeheartedly recommend this journal. Amanda McNamara has created something remarkable—a bridge between evidence-based medicine and compassionate self-care that empowers people to become active participants in their healing journey.
The combination of handwriting benefits, structured mood tracking, creative expression, and practical wisdom makes this an invaluable tool for both healthcare providers and individuals seeking to understand and optimize their mental health.
